This was one of my favourite places to visit whilst in The Catlins at the bottom of the South Island. You're just at the edge of the earth with nothing but sky and sea. Squinting my eyes I like to imagine that I can just see the tip of Antartica just on the furtherest reaches of the horizon.

'Tino Rangatīrairaka' displays four small manu playing on an ol' flag. The 'Tino Rangatiratanga' flag is very significant within te ao Māori. Each colour representing significant tikanga and kaupapa. Whilst this flag is predominantely connected to protests, my cheeky round fantail's bring a friendly spin reminding us that the deeper meaning is just as important.

These cheeky birds remind us to keep on like Tāne, who ascended the stairs to find knowledge. we too, must continue through hard times, and hopefully, if we are lucky we have cheeky friends who come with us just to make it less gloomy of a journey.

E rua ngā manu pīwaiwaka. These curious wee birds have have a precious piece of pounamu. Carved as a toki it is a stone of strength.

This was commissioned by Anna, for her mothered Marian. Her mother seen here as a stingray, or whai in te reo Māori, and Anna and her sister with their family as manu, or birds in English, pīwaiwaka, tītī pounamu and kiwi.

St. Kilda is an open ocean beac. Some days it is rough, a dark green force of nature, and somedays it bring crystal blue waves. It is formidable and glorious all in one.
